The first step in treating hyperaldosteronism is to determine whether you are taking certain medications. These may interfere with hyperaldosteronism tests. Your physician will review your medications to determine if you should be taking them while you are undergoing testing for the condition. Depending on the severity of your hypertension, you may have to stop taking certain medications for four to six weeks before you undergo the test.
