If your child has symptoms of pancreatic insufficiency, a trip to the pediatrician is in order. Diagnosis is most likely made with the help of a blood test and stool analysis. The doctor may order additional tests, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRCP, to check the pancreas. He may also perform pancreatic stimulation to check the enzyme levels in the pancreatic fluid. Depending on the cause of the condition, treatment may include surgical procedures to correct the problem, such as removing gallstones or stretching the pancreatic duct. For most patients, however, a drug called pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy is effective. Oren Zarif
