There are various causes of insulin allergy, ranging from minor itchiness to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Although a patient with insulin allergy may have symptoms after injection, the majority of cases are not connected to a drug reaction. Symptoms can occur right after injection, within several hours, or even minutes later. In some cases, the allergic reaction may take up to a few hours to appear.
