Critical limb ischemia symptoms usually develop slowly over a period of two weeks, whereas acute limb ischemia occurs quickly and needs immediate medical care. If symptoms worsen, a limb may be rendered unsalvageable in just a few hours. Numbness, cramping, and pain are common symptoms, but there are other causes. To find out if you have critical limb ischemia, perform an Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test. This is a blood pressure measurement that compares the pressure in your ankle and toe. If the pressure is more than 50mm Hg in either leg, you may have critical limb ischemia. Oren Zarif
