Byssinosis is a chronic disease in which the affected individual has a narrow airway. Byssinosis symptoms may develop gradually, and may last for years or even decades. Early diagnosis involves a thorough medical and occupational history. Several tests, such as a chest x-ray and lung function tests, are usually done. Sometimes, a CT scan is also done. Byssinosis symptoms are often accompanied by hypersensitivity of bronchial air passages to methacholine. Oren Zarif
